Diving Buoyancy Compensator Device for Diving Hookah, BCD Compatible Diving Ventilator
$ 59.95
I couldn’t believe my luck when this showed up in a search. I bought a Aquarobo hookah system earlier this year, and I have been diving without a BCD (naughty boy) as I couldn’t find one that worked with a hookah system instead of a tank. This BCD has all the features of the jackets I used to use when diving with SCUBA, such as an Octopus Rig, inflator hose with mouthpiece for manual inflation, and a dump valve. Fully inflated it easily makes me ascend in an emergency, and a there is a button for giving small blasts of air for bouyancy compensation as one goes deeper . It seems well made, maybe not quite as heavy duty as the BCDs costing 4x as much. The regulator is perfectly adjusted, supplying adequate air on demand without free flowing, and there are a couple of rings for attaching lanyards on the shoulder straps. No manual supplied, which is a shame as a contact should be provided for replacement parts for the filter cartridge at least; also not everyone who buys one of these will be au fait on how to assemble use and maintain it. A couple of minor negatives; some pockets would have been useful,along with a drain valve to let water out, and reflective straps on the jacket would be a useful safety feature. All in all though I’m well pleased with this, and recommend adding this to your setup to anyone diving with a hookah system as you will be a lot safer diving with a BCD than without one.
